چکیده

In code division multiple access (CDMA), orthogonal variable spreading factor (OVSF) codes are used to allocate vacant codes when new calls arrive. In this paper, integration is done for allocation of OVSF codes when a quantized or non-quantized call arrives, and further, the voice calls and data calls are treated differently as former are delay sensitive and later can be stored in buffer. Voice calls are assigned a busy or vacant code when a call arrives. The rate of data calls can increase or decrease according to the availability of free capacity in code tree or according to type of traffic load. Single code and multi code schemes are proposed which minimize the internal fragmentation of busy codes by utilizing their wastage capacity. In addition, the external fragmentation is also reduced. The vacant code is assigned when busy code wastage capacity is insufficient to handle a call. Simulation results prove dominance of our scheme over other novel schemes.

Throughput Improvement of STS-Based MC DS-CDMA System with Variable Spreading Factor

The throughput enhancement of Space-Time Spreading (STS)-based Multicarrier Direct Sequence Code Division Multiple Access (MC DS-CDMA) system is investigated in this paper. Variable Spreading Factor (VSF) is utilized to improve the data throughput of the system. In this contribution, an analytical approach is proposed to compute a new expression for the Bit Error Rate (BER) performance of t...

Reducing Wastage Capacity in OVSF Based CDMA Networks using Dynamic Rake Combiners

-Orthogonal variable spreading factor (OVSF) codes in CDMA networks are designed to handle quantized data rates. Handling non-quantized data rates in such networks leads to code capacity wastage if traditional single code assignment is used. Although, the use of multiple codes reduce this wastage capacity but the use of large number of fixed rake combiners per call increase cost and complexity ...

Investigation of Handover in Wcdma

Third generation wireless system is based on the WCDMA access technique. In this technique, all users share the same bandwidth simultaneously but with different codes. So in Soft Handoff (WCDMA) new user will demand new OVSF codes. This behavior effectively reduces the total number of available OVSF codes in each cell. The effective available OVSF codes in each cell decreases as the percentage ...

Delay Sensitivity Based Assignment of OVSF Codes for the Downlink DCH in WCDMA

A significant problem that deteriorates the performance of 3G W-CDMA systems is code blocking. The complete elimination of this phenomenon is accomplished only if a code reassignment procedure is employed. However, the relatively high total signaling delay for a single OVSF code reassignment combined with the strict delay requirements of some services makes the reassignment of some OVSF codes i...
